The sun came out again for the second sporting outing of the summer, at Glencorse Golf Club. Four teams competed and appear to have enjoyed the sunshine, the golf and the banter. The teams were skipped by members of the golf club. John Glidden with Alister Lambie, Mike Mauchline and Jim Hume, Dave Anderson with Ronnie Hope, Colin McCall and Liz Anderson, Reg Dunbar with Andrew Dalgleish, Ian Somerville and Anne Lambie, and Dave Carr with Jim Ramsay, and Les Dalgleish and Jean Noble.
The format was a Texas Mex, which reduces the impact of the teams best player (not necessarily the skip). The eventual winners were Dave Anderson, Ronnie Hope, Liz Anderson and Colin McCall with 70. However the ‘foundation’ team, Reg Dunbar alongside Ian Somerville, Anne Lambie and Andrew Dalgleish, were not far behind on 76.
Additional prizes were awarded for the longest drive at 16th (gentlemen) – Reg Dunbar, longest drive at 16th (ladies) – Jean Noble, and nearest the pin at 8th – Jim Hume. Congratulations to all who took part.
A further 14 members joined the players for a very nice high tea – a good day all round. Thanks to Jean Noble for sponsoring the event, and to Roger Scott for some additional prizes.
