The preliminary ties in the 2017-18 competition were played out this week. On Wednesday evening, Team Lambie and Team Jacobs enjoyed comfortable wins over their respective opponents, Team Brown and Team Dunbar. Last night (Thursday), Team Anderson came back to win (6-4) against Team Scott, whilst Team Hunter and Team Ramsay peeled their game at 6 all. Team Ramsay progressed with the better draw to the house.
The semi-finals are on Monday 6 November (7.30pm), where Team Lambie will play Team Jacobs, and Team Anderson will play Team Ramsay.
Penicuik met Peebles CC in the first round of this season’s competition. The Penicuik rink was skipped by Jim Ramsay, with Dave Anderson, Ken Hunter, and Andrew Lambie. The opposing team was skipped by Graham Coulthard, and featured our own Roger Scott playing at second.
Penicuik got off to a good start taking a three in the first end and consolidated their position to lead 7-2 after five ends. Peebles gained a single in the sixth end, and then stole a well worked two to finish the game at 7-5 for Penicuik.
Penicuik will face the winner from the game between Musketeers v Gogar Park, in the second round on 13 January.
